Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

6 to 8 servings
To make biscuits.
Biscuit ingredients -
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
Preheat 450 degrees
In large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, salt, and sugar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
In another bowl, beat egg and milk. Slowly stir into crumbly mixture until just combined. Drop dough onto baking sheet. (Dough can also be gently rolled out and cut with round cutter)
Bake 10 to 15 minutes

To make gravy
Gravy ingredients -
1 pound pork sausage
1/2 cup shortening
1/3 cup flour
4 cups milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Salt 🧂 & Pepper 🌶️ to taste
In large skillet, brown sausage and crumble it. Add shortening, heating until melted. Sprinkle with flour. Stir well. Add milk 1 cup at a time, stirring constantly. Stir in soup. Season with salt 🧂 & pepper 🌶️.
Serve over warm biscuits
