Mötley Crüe -WHAT A GREAT BAND TWAS TO SEE - I SAW THEM PERFORM @ T/"THE PINK PALACE" & TWAS AWESOME

Updated: Oct 23, 2021

Per omnia saecula saeculorum. AMEN

Mötley Crüe - Oh California, Those were the days, concerts & letting loose, feeling good and whooping it up. Ah, the times I had years ago, I miss those, it was a blast.

Ron Yett (Who is still performing in band-s), his then-girlfriend at the time, again was Diane (from Oregon) & my first husband Tony Colver & I went to see Mötley Crüe at the Pink Palace, back in the last half of the '80 s, WE HEADED TO LOS ANGELES BY LIMO. It was something the four of us loved to do, head to a concert, and rock out. Of course, when you go by limo, you don't have to worry about "drunk and driving", that's for sure.

The Pink Palace doesn't hold a whole lot of seating, just big enough, so to be a bit more personal kinda. Got to get right up next to the stage (as close to Tommy Lee, as I could get which was right beside the stage, right where he was), and I stayed for the whole concert, of course, I did make many trips back n forth to the table to get refills on "Long Island Ice Tea" drinks, I had drunk 6 before I realized it, but what a blast we all had. I didn't get to meet or hang out with them afterward, but I sure did enjoy that concert, wish I had got to though.

*************************** Mötley Crüe ****************************

Mötley Crüe quickly built a strong fanbase and released its debut album Too Fast for Love in 1981 on its own independent label (Leathür Records). Elektra Records decided to sign the band shortly thereafter, reissuing its debut in 1982. The band then began a string of hit releases throughout the decade—1983's Shout at the Devil, 1985's Theatre of Pain, 1987's Girls, Girls, Girls, and 1989's Dr. Feelgood—establishing the quartet as one of the biggest hard rock/metal bands of the 1980s.

"Tommy Lee" used several memorable gimmicks during his drum solos at concerts, such as having his entire kit revolving and spinning, or having the entire kit float above the crowd while he continued to play. He was noted for mooning the crowd at nearly every show. The band was known for its decadent behavior both on and offstage, often consuming excessive amounts of drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, pills, and alcohol.

In 2004, Lee reunited with the original Mötley Crüe line-up to release the double-disc anthology album entitled Red, White & Crüe, which went quadruple-platinum and launched a monumental reunion tour to support it, The Red, White & Crüe Tour 2005: Better Live Than Dead, the band's first tour in six years. Mötley Crüe finished the year at #8 on the Top Concert Money Earners list. It played 81 shows and grossed US$33 million according to Billboard Boxscore.

Mötley Crüe has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. They have also achieved seven platinum or multi-platinum certifications, nine Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart (including 1989's Dr. Feelgood, which is Mötley Crüe's only album to reach number one), twenty-two Top 40 mainstream rock hits, and six Top 20 pop singles.[7][8] The band experienced several short-term lineup changes in the 1990s and 2000s; these included the introduction of vocalist John Corabi (who was Neil's replacement from 1992 to 1996) and drummers Randy Castillo and Samantha Maloney, both of whom filled in for Lee following his departure from Mötley Crüe in 1999; he returned to the band in 2004.

The members of Mötley Crüe have often been noted for their hedonistic lifestyles and the androgynous personae they maintained. Following the hard rock and heavy metal origins on the band's first two albums, Too Fast for Love (1981) and Shout at the Devil (1983), the release of its third album Theatre of Pain (1985) saw Mötley Crüe joining the first wave of glam metal. The band has also been known for their elaborate live performances, which feature flame thrower guitars, roller coaster drum kits, and heavy use of pyrotechnics (including lighting Nikki on fire Mötley Crüe's most recent studio album, Saints of Los Angeles, was released on June 24, 2008. What was planned to be the band's final show took place on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2015. The concert was filmed for a theatrical and Blu-ray release in 2016.

After two-and-a-half years of inactivity, Neil announced in September 2018 that Mötley Crüe had reunited and was working on new material. On March 22, 2019, the band released four new songs on the soundtrack for its Netflix biopic The Dirt, based on the band's New York Times best-selling autobiography. The soundtrack went to number one on the iTunes All Genres Album Chart, number 3 on the Billboard Top Album and Digital Album sales charts, number 10 on the Billboard 200, and Top 10 worldwide. The autobiography returned to New York Times Best Seller list at number 6 on Nonfiction Print and number 8 on Nonfiction Combined Print & E-Book.

2011–2015: The Final Tour and retirement from touring

Mötley Crüe co-headlined a mid-year tour with Poison and special guests New York Dolls in 2011 for the band's 30th Anniversary and Poison's 25th anniversary (whom I also saw in concert back in the latter '80 s, similar to Motley Crue type setting concert & I also had a blast at). On August 30, 2011, Mötley Crüe, along with co-headliners Def Leppard and special guests Steel Panther, announced a UK Tour commencing in December 2011.

Mötley Crüe performed, for what was then advertised to be the last time, at Staples Center in Los Angeles on December 31, 2015. The band reported that its New Year's Eve show was going to be released as a film in 2016; the movie was titled Motley Crue: THE END.

On September 13, 2018, frontman Vince Neil announced on his Twitter account that Mötley Crüe was recording four new songs; this was later also confirmed by bassist Nikki Sixx, who said that the new material was recorded for the film adaptation of the band's biography, The Dirt. Neil also clarified that, though the band has signed a contract to no longer tour, they still plan to continue putting out new music for the future.

Netflix released The Dirt biopic based on a book of the same name that coincided with an 18-song soundtrack on March 22, 2019. The film is directed by Jeff Tremaine, (Jackass), produced by Julie Yorn and Erik Olsen, executive produced by Rick Yorn, and co-produced by Kovac who is Mötley Crüe's manager, CEO of Eleven Seven Label Group, and founder of Tenth Street Entertainment.

My personal favorite songs/albums of all time by them are - "Too Fast For Love", "Shout at the Devil", "Theatre of Pain", "Kickstart My Heart" and "Decade of Decadence, to name a few.

If ever I hear anyone try to say anything negative about the song "Shout at the Devil", I still will continue to reply, " I sure the H-E-L-L am not going to whisper at him, Are you?".

Music is music, and I have always looked at it as such, it's creativity, it's art.

Legacy

Music critic Martin Popoff's book The Top 500 Heavy Metal Songs of All Time lists seven of the band's songs in its ranking. Mötley Crüe was ranked tenth on MTV's list of "Top 10 Heavy Metal Bands of All-Time" and ninth on "VH1's All-Time Top Ten Metal Bands". Music website Loudwire named the band the 22nd greatest metal band of all time. Spin named Shout at the Devil the 11th best metal album of all time. In 2013 LA Weekly named the band the 3rd best "hair metal" band of all time. Rolling Stone named Too Fast For Love the 22nd best metal album of all time.

In 2006, the band received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Personally, I think they should have ranked higher than the above says.

HOWEVER, WE CAN REST ASSURED THAT WE WILL PROBABLY BE SEEING PERFORMANCES STILL IN YEARS TO COME, MAYBE NOT AS OFTEN, BUT I DOUBT THIS IS THE LAST OF THIS BAND, TOO GOOD A BAND, TOO YOUNG TO RETIRE FOR GOOD/PERMANENT, ALWAYS BE SOME SPECIALS TO COME, I BELIEVE.
